Experience the ultimate 10-day arctic summer adventure in Sisimiut.

Our flyfishing package is designed for you that wants to completely immerse in the vast untouched nature around Sisimiut. Your trip consists of few days exploring and relaxing in Sisimiut and few days staying in a heated tent, fishing in the Greenlandic wilderness.

Availability: This tour can be booked at any time. There are two dates already confirmed: July 28th and August 25th.

Group size: Maximum 6 people

All that is included:

  • 3 nights at Hotel SØMA with breakfast in shared DBL room. 
  • Airport transfers
  • 6 days of flyfishing with local guides with exclusive right to the river
  • Boat fishing: catfish, salmon, halibut, cod
  • Fishing permits
  • Local guides, including Greenlandic seal hunter Leif Fontaine
  • Boat transfer from Sisimiut to the camp and back
  • Camp staff in charge of cooking and dishwashing
  • 6 nights in private tent with a bed and space for luggage and gear. 
  • Breakfast, lunch and dinner at the camp
  • Farewell dinner featuring Greenlandic specialties
  • Traditional trap and net fishing and an introduction to the local smoking, salting and drying methods (only available July 15th to August 15th)

Your program

Day 1

Arrival to Sisimiut

Welcome to Sisimiut! Your transfer from the airport to Hotel SØMA is arranged and you can enjoy the view over the harbor and the mountains during the drive to Hotel SØMA. After checking-in, the rest of the day is at your leisure.

Day 2

Transfer to the fishing camp

In the afternoon, transfer to the harbor where our partner will be waiting for you to start this unique experience. You will sail from Sisimiut to the fishing camp located on the Sassanguit river, just on the Arctic Circle. The boat trip takes about 1,5 to 2 hours. At your arrival at the camp, you will be welcome by Leif Fontain, Greenlandic hunter and fisherman, and his team consisted of local nature guides and staff at the camp. The whole team has a solid local knowledge and knows the river and conditions in the Greenland wilderness very well, ensuring that you are in the best hands throughout the stay. Time to set up in your private and spacious heated tent in the middle of the untouched nature.

Day 3-7

Flyfishing & exploring the wilderness

The next days will be dedicated to exploring the wilderness around the camp and discovering the many activities it offers. You have the whole area to yourself which gives you the maximum opportunity to find your very own favorite fishing spot, where all the trout are biting. You can go fly fishing for Arctic Char, sea fishing (by boat) halibut, Atlantic wolffish, salmon and cod. Between mid-july until mid-august, when the trout season is at its peak, you can catch an amazing glimpse of thousands of trout jumping through cascades og water to continue their journey upriver. Depending on the period, you can also get the opportunity to take part in trap and net at the host family fishing grounds and also discover the traditional way of drying, salting and smoking the trouts. There will be plenty of time to also explore the surroundings by hiking up to the fox caves, picking angelica plants and observing the wildlife such as musk ox, reindeer, birds or simply contemplating the landscapes. On our last evening, on day 7, we enjoy a farewell dinner made of Greenlandic specialties.

Day 8

Transfer back to Sisimiut

After a last morning to enjoy the many possible activities, it´s time to leave this incredible place and head back to Sisimiut. At your arrival at the harbor, you will be picked up and transferred to Hotel SØMA. In the evening, enjoy Hotel SØMA´s Arctic spa and sauna for 2 hours. The wellness area will be just for yourself so you can relax in the hot water with the picturesque view over the valley.

Day 9

Explore Sisimiut

The day is at your leisure, there are many possible activities to enjoy Sisimiut and the surroundings. Hiking, sailing, exploring the city…our receptionist will be more than happy to explain you the different options.

Day 10

Departure

It is time to say goodbye. After your breakfast you will be transferred to the airport.
