Hotel SØMA is a Group of hotels that has been in Greenland for over 50 years. We are the business traveler’s favorite, the locals’ living room and tourism’s access to Greenland’s beautiful nature, fantastic adventures and welcoming people. But most importantly, we are a home. A home based on good Christian values and where there is room and hospitality for everyone to feel welcome.
You may be between studies/jobs or want to take a leave of absence to go on an adventure and try your hand at a management position in Greenland. However, you must at least have a high school education or similar. It is an advantage if you are good with languages and if you have previously worked in a hotel.
We envisage that:
- You are robust, independent and able to make decisions.
- You are good at collaborating and have a good overview.
- You are outgoing and find it natural to be part of new communities.
- You must also be comfortable speaking English.
- You are trained to use your moral compass – even when things get tough.
- You are familiar with IT at a worklevel.
About the position
As Junior Manager, you are responsible for the daily operation of the hotel and cafeteria in cooperation with a Deputy Manager. Your work will consist of management and administrative tasks, but you will also assist in the actual operation to the extent necessary. Your immediate manager will be the regional Director.
We are constantly striving to improve, and we expect you to be motivated by development as well. We are committed to exchanging experiences with each other so that together we can achieve our potential. We will continuously give you more responsibility – at a pace that you can keep up with. The position places high demands on you as a manager and requires you to be ready for change.
It is an advantage if you have a previous experience from the hotel industry.
Hotel SØMA consists of 150 employees across our 4 destinations in Greenland.
We are inclusive and see opportunities in the people we surround ourselves with. We are a young team with adventurousness and humor. We try to balance the Greenlandic culture and our desired work culture by being involving and welcoming.
We are in an exciting period of development, where we are modernizing and expanding to offer our guests and the local community an even better experience. Among other things, we are in the process of expanding the hotel with brand new conference facilities and rooms. We are opportunistic and are not afraid to try out new concepts or ideas – even if it means that we sometimes make mistakes, because we always move on. As much as we enjoy making a difference to the local community in our work, we enjoy going on adventures in the endless Greenlandic nature in our spare time. Sisimiut offers sled dogs, snowmobiles, cross-country skiing, hiking trails, whales and much more.
Conditions of employment
We are consistently seeking new members to our management teams on our Hotels, and would love to hear from you.
The employment period is a minimum of two years. We have had several employees who have moved here for a shorter period, but who have extended their time here, because of the amazing life that is possible in Greenland.
